The Lagos State Taskforce has apprehended a 40-year-old suspect, Soji Inawole, for allegedly using his motorcycle to traffic illicit drugs across the city. The operation, which was carried out around the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Ijaiye Bus Stop, and Agbado Railway Station Road, resulted in the seizure of several motorcycles and a cache of illegal substances, including Colorado, Indian hemp, and narcotic drugs.
According to the Taskforce Chairman, CSP Adetayo Akerele, the agency is committed to eliminating criminal elements that threaten the peace and security of residents. “This operation reflects our zero-tolerance policy against illegal activities that compromise the security of our communities. The suspect will face the full weight of the law as investigations continue.”
The misuse of commercial motorcycles for criminal purposes has become a growing concern in Lagos. Many Okada operators are allegedly involved in activities such as bag snatching, pickpocketing, and shoplifting. The Taskforce has vowed to continue its enforcement actions against recalcitrant riders who endanger public safety on Lagos highways.
The Taskforce Chairman has urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities through the agency’s “See Something, Say Something” initiative. This collaborative effort aims to create a safe and crime-free environment for all residents.
The arrested suspect has been charged in court for prosecution, and the Taskforce remains resolute in its mission to promote a drug-free society and restore orderliness in Lagos.
