30 Terrorists Killed in Airstrike at Wedding Venue in Zamfara

The Air Component of the Joint Task Force, Operation Fasin Yamma (OPFY), has confirmed the killing of more than 30 terrorists in a precision airstrike carried out in Zamfara State on Monday, August 4, 2025.

According to a statement released on Thursday by the OPFY Media Information Officer, Captain David Adewusi, the airstrike targeted a large gathering of terrorists at the base of Asola Hills in Yankuzo Ward, Tsafe Local Government Area, where the insurgents had convened for a wedding ceremony.

“The strike, conducted based on credible intelligence, targeted terrorists operating from the Faskari and Kankara axes in Katsina State, as well as various parts of Zamfara,” the statement read.

“Several were neutralised, and many others sustained critical injuries.”

In the aftermath of the strike, ground troops from 1 Brigade under Sector 2 of OPFY conducted a follow-up clearance operation on August 5. During the operation, troops successfully repelled an ambush while en route to Yankuzo Village, where some of the injured terrorists were believed to have fled for treatment.

Local sources and intelligence reports confirmed that no fewer than 30 terrorists were killed during the combined air and ground assault.

Additionally, four suspected terrorist collaborators from Kunchin Kalgo Village in Tsafe LGA were critically injured during the operation.

The military said the offensive has brought a sense of relief to communities in and around Yankuzo, Tsafe, and neighboring areas, which have suffered repeated attacks by terrorist elements.

“Operation Fasin Yamma remains fully committed to restoring peace and stability across Zamfara and the broader North West region,” Captain Adewusi added.
