2027 Presidency: APC North-Central Forum Expresses Confidence In Yari

The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has expressed confidence in Senator Abdulaziz Yari’s ability to lead the party’s presidential campaign and secure victory for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.

The forum, in a statement issued on Wednesday by its chairman, Saleh Zazzaga, congratulated Yari on his appointment as Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council.

It also hailed the appointment of two other North-Central APC members to the council — James Faleke, who was named Deputy Director-General, Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring, and Okpokwu Ogenyi, appointed North-Central Coordinator.

The forum described Yari’s appointment as a strategic decision by President Tinubu, saying the former Zamfara governor has the political experience, grassroots network and organisational capacity required to coordinate a nationwide campaign.

According to the group, Yari’s emergence has further strengthened Tinubu’s political structure in the North and generated positive reactions among APC stakeholders and supporters across the country.

The forum said Yari was well positioned for the role, citing his long-standing involvement in political mobilisation and party administration.

It noted that the senator had, through the Renewed Hope Network, been actively mobilising grassroots support for Tinubu’s administration and promoting the achievements of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Yari, who represents Zamfara West in the Senate, served as governor of Zamfara State from 2011 to 2019. He was elected governor in 2011 on the platform of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and returned to office in 2015 after contesting under the APC.

The forum also pointed to his experience in party organisation, noting that he previously served as National Financial Secretary of the ANPP and chairman of the party in Zamfara State.

It urged APC members and stakeholders across the country to rally behind the newly constituted Presidential Campaign Council and provide the support needed to deliver Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The group also expressed confidence in Faleke and Ogenyi, saying both men possess the political and organisational experience required for their respective assignments.

Faleke, who represents Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, played a prominent role in Tinubu’s 2023 presidential campaign, serving as Secretary of the Presidential Campaign Council.

He also served as a key member of Tinubu’s political support structure during the 2023 presidential nomination process and acted as Tinubu’s agent at the APC presidential primary.

With the appointments, the North-Central APC Forum said the party had assembled a campaign leadership capable of combining political experience, grassroots mobilisation and electoral coordination ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
