2026 World Cup: 42 Nations Secure Qualification as Global Race Nears Final Stage

A total of 42 national teams have officially sealed their qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following another decisive round of international fixtures on Tuesday night.

Several countries — including Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium, Scotland, Panama, Haiti and Curaçao — confirmed their places after securing the needed results in their respective qualifiers.

Spain earned passage after a 2-2 draw with Turkey, while Scotland claimed a dramatic 4-2 victory over 10-man Denmark. Austria also advanced, with their 1-1 home draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina proving sufficient to guarantee their spot at the global event.

With these nations now joining the list of qualified teams, only six slots remain open for next year’s expanded tournament.
