Zidane reunites with Barthez in France coaching staff

France head coach Zinedine Zidane has brought former international teammate Fabien Barthez into his coaching setup as the new goalkeeper coach.

Zidane took charge of Les Bleus last month on a four-year contract, succeeding Didier Deschamps, who guided France at the 2026 World Cup.

The pair shared the pitch when France won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000.

Barthez earned 87 caps for France, with his final appearance coming in the 2006 World Cup final, where Zidane was sent off in extra time for headbutting Italy defender Marco Materazzi.

The 55-year-old former goalkeeper also played for Toulouse, Marseille, Monaco and Manchester United during his career.
