Zambia’s Rachel Kundananji Confident Ahead of Super Falcons Clash in WAFCON Quarter-Final

Zambia forward Rachel Kundananji has expressed confidence as the Copper Queens gear up to face Nigeria’s Super Falcons in the quarter-finals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The Zambian side finished second in Group A and will now battle Group B leaders Nigeria on Friday at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.

Under the guidance of head coach Nora Häuptle, Zambia have showcased a vibrant attacking approach throughout the tournament in Morocco, remaining unbeaten with two victories and one draw.

Kundananji, who currently plays for Bay FC in the NWSL, has been instrumental in Zambia’s campaign so far, netting three goals and earning two Woman of the Match honors.

Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated knockout clash, the prolific striker made it clear that her team is not intimidated by the nine-time African champions.

“We wanted to top the group, but unfortunately, we didn’t score enough goals. That said, we’re not bothered by our position — we’re focused on the bigger goal,” Kundananji told FAZ Media.
