The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Mrs. Grace Adayilo, the pioneer Head of the Civil Service of the FCT.
Adayilo, who etched her name in history as both the first Head of Service and the first woman to hold the position in the FCT, passed away in the early hours of Monday, September 1, 2025.
Her trailblazing appointment was approved by President Bola Tinubu on October 6, 2024, with immediate effect. Before then, she served with distinction as the Permanent Secretary of the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat.
Reacting to the news during a media chat in Abuja, Wike described Adayilo’s passing as a tragic loss, not only to the FCT administration but also to the nation at large.
“Her death is truly saddening and unfortunate. Mrs. Adayilo was a remarkable leader who broke barriers, inspired many, and served with uncommon dedication. Her contributions to the civil service will never be forgotten,” Wike said.
