Vice President Shettima Unveils ‘Light Up South East Initiative’

...to Boost Power Supply to Industrial Hubs

Vice President Kashim Shettima is poised to inaugurate the groundbreaking “Light Up South East Initiative” on Monday, February 26, aiming to turbocharge electricity provision to vital industrial clusters in the region.

The eagerly anticipated event, slated for Enugu, the bustling capital of Enugu State, signifies a pivotal stride in the nationwide drive to fortify energy access in strategic economic enclaves.

This transformative initiative, forged through a strategic partnership between the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited (NDPHC) and its collaborative allies, will convene key stakeholders from the energy sector to chart a path towards optimizing electricity distribution across the South East.

A hallmark of Vice President Shettima’s visit to Enugu will be the high-profile South East Business Roundtable, set to assemble governmental luminaries and industry titans for constructive dialogue on propelling dependable and sustainable power delivery to both commercial hubs and residential quarters within the region.

This milestone unveiling follows the Vice President’s trailblazing launch of the project in the South West region, kickstarted at the prestigious Agbara Industrial Cluster on October 12, 2023. Stakeholders have since rallied behind this visionary initiative, affirming their unwavering commitment to its resounding success nationwide.

Under the astute leadership of Vice President Shettima, the administration has embraced infrastructure advancement as a linchpin of its economic blueprint. This resolute dedication underscores a broader strategy aimed at empowering citizens and fortifying the nation’s economic robustness through steadfast policy frameworks.

In tandem with the debut of the “Light Up South East Initiative,” Vice President Shettima will preside over the ceremonial commissioning of the 181-megawatt Geometric Power plant nestled within the vibrant Osisioma Industrial Layout in Aba, Abia State.

This dual mandate underscores the government’s unwavering resolve to expand power generation capacity and catalyze industrial prosperity across the length and breadth of the nation.
