The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says it is rehabilitating four transmission towers vandalised along the Afam-IPP-Elelenwo 132kV Double-Circuit Transmission Line.
TCN, in a statement signed by its management on Sunday, September 20, 2026 said the vandalism was discovered on August 6, 2026, by its lines engineers from the Port Harcourt Region.
According to the company, Towers T50 to T53 were affected, with members of the structures removed and carted away by vandals.
The company said the latest incident marked the fifth vandalism attack on the transmission line in recent times.
TCN said rehabilitation work was currently ongoing to restore the affected towers and ensure the continued integrity of the transmission infrastructure.
It called on stakeholders and members of the public to join efforts to curb the increasing incidence of vandalism, warning that such acts pose a threat to the stability and reliability of the national electricity grid.
The company urged communities, security agencies and other stakeholders along transmission corridors to remain vigilant and support efforts to protect critical power infrastructure.
