TunesBid Sues Singer Ayo Maff for Alleged Contract Breach

Label warns promoters against dealing with artist, insists he's still under binding recording deal.

Record label TunesBid Limited has filed a lawsuit against fast-rising artist Ayo Maff, accusing him of breaching the terms of their recording agreement.

In a statement released on its official Instagram page, the label claimed the singer, real name Ayodele Maff, and his management team violated a legally binding contract signed on December 3, 2023, by entering into unauthorized dealings despite being under an exclusive agreement.

TunesBid stated that it fully financed the production and promotion of Ayo Maff’s singles ‘Street Anthem’, ‘Dealer’, and ‘7 Days’, and also facilitated a distribution deal with Empire Distribution, a major U.S.-based music distribution company.

“The artist and his management teams have continued conniving to defraud TunesBid by entering a dishonourable contract,” the label alleged.

The label also warned event organizers, entertainment companies, and promoters to cease engagements with the singer or risk facing legal action, maintaining that Ayo Maff remains under contract.

The agreement, according to TunesBid, was signed with legal representation from OceansTreasure Limited and involved lawyers Oyefeso Oluwamayowa Olumide, Okolie Amobi Chiedu, and Oyefeso Ayotunde.

As of the time of this report, Ayo Maff and his team have yet to respond publicly to the allegations.

The dispute adds to the growing list of legal battles in Nigeria’s music industry, often revolving around contract enforcement and artist-label disagreements.
