Troy Deeney Tips Chelsea for Premier League Title Push, Urges Key Signings

Former Watford captain Troy Deeney has thrown his support behind Chelsea as serious contenders for the Premier League title next season, following their emphatic Club World Cup triumph over Paris Saint-Germain.

The Blues stunned European champions PSG with a 3-0 win in the final on Sunday, a result that has significantly bolstered optimism around their prospects under new manager Enzo Maresca.

Deeney, speaking on talkSPORT, expressed confidence in Chelsea’s potential to challenge the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal for domestic supremacy. However, he stressed the importance of bolstering the squad with a few strategic additions.

“I’d go for a goalkeeper, an experienced centre-half, and a full-back. That for me is a perfect team,” Deeney said.

He acknowledged the physical toll of Chelsea’s packed campaign but believes the club now has the momentum and depth to compete on multiple fronts.

“They’re going to have to rest and recover. I think later on in the season this may take a toll, but I expect them now to be looking at going deep into the Champions League,” he added.

Deeney concluded by backing Chelsea to compete for multiple trophies, saying, “They can win the FA Cup and absolutely they can be up there with Arsenal trying to push on with Liverpool.”

Chelsea last won the Premier League title in 2017 but are now widely being seen as a team on the rise.
