Toyin Abraham Reveals Why She Quit Cigarettes: ‘My Husband Threatened to Leave’

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham has disclosed that her husband, actor Kolawole Ajeyemi, once warned that their marriage could end if she did not quit smoking.
Abraham made the revelation during a recent appearance on The Moraya Show, where she opened up about her marriage and a personal battle with cigarette addiction.
The actress said she was previously addicted to cigarettes but decided to quit after her husband made it clear that he could not remain in the marriage if she continued smoking.
According to Abraham, she chose to give up cigarettes because she valued her marriage and did not want the habit to jeopardise her relationship.
“My husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi, is one of the best things that ever happened to me. He lets me shine and be me,” she said.
“I used to be a cigarette addict but he warned me that if I don’t stop smoking our marriage won’t work. I had to stop it because I valued my marriage.”
However, Abraham disclosed that while she no longer smokes cigarettes, she still uses electronic cigarettes.
“Well, I have stopped cigarettes but I still do vapes,” she added.
The actress also praised Ajeyemi for the role he has played in her personal and professional life, describing him as supportive rather than controlling.
She said her husband generally allows her the freedom to make her own choices and pursue what makes her happy, as long as she remains safe.
Abraham and Ajeyemi have been married since 2019 and share a daughter.
