Toyin Abraham rejects Lagos APC campaign council listing: ‘I’m staying out of politics’

Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has rejected her reported inclusion in the Lagos State All Progressives Congress, APC, Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 elections.
Her name appeared on a list released on Thursday as part of the council’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, alongside 32 other entertainers.
The list included actors and musicians such as Jide Kosoko, Adebayo Salami, Bukky Wright, Yinka Quadri, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Saheed Osupa, Small Doctor and Malaika.
However, Abraham said she was not a member of the campaign council and asked the public to disregard the reported inclusion.
“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently, I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” she wrote in an Instagram Story.
The actress’s statement came shortly after the campaign structure was made public by the Lagos APC ahead of its inauguration.
The published list identifies Toke Benson-Awoyinka as Director of the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, with Kosoko as Co-Director and Eniola Badmus as Deputy Director. Abraham was listed as one of the members.
Abraham’s latest position also marks a clear departure from her public involvement in the 2023 presidential election, when she openly supported Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Her support at the time attracted significant criticism and online backlash, which she later spoke about publicly.
Despite Abraham’s rejection of the reported appointment, her name remained on the published 33-member directorate list in reports reviewed on the development.
