Toyin Abraham Reflects on N1bn ‘Oversabi Aunty’ Success Amid Fresh Controversy
Nollywood actress and producer Toyin Abraham has opened up about life after her film Oversabi Aunty surpassed N1 billion at the Nigerian box office, even as she faces renewed public scrutiny over a separate controversy.
The movie, which premiered on December 19, 2025, has become one of Nollywood’s biggest commercial successes, ranking as the fourth highest-grossing film in the industry’s history.
Reacting to the milestone in a post on X, Abraham suggested that the achievement has come with increased demands. “Ever since I made over 1B I never rest na like this, this level be,” she wrote.
Her comments come at a time when allegations from influencer Olawuni Oluwapelumi Abike have drawn attention online. Abike had claimed she was paid N50,000 for a role in Ijakumo but later discovered her scenes were not included in the final version of the film.
Addressing the claims, Abraham stated that the influencer received N500,000 for a separate role in Malaika, while the N50,000 payment covered two scenes in Ijakumo. She added that those scenes were eventually removed during post-production at the discretion of the film’s director.
Oversabi Aunty features a cast that includes Mike Ezuruonye, Enioluwa Adeoluwa, Queen Nwokoye and Efe Irele.
The film’s title was inspired by a viral moment at the wedding of Priscilla Ojo, where Abraham’s lively display earned her the nickname “Oversabi.”
Despite the ongoing debate, the actress continues to celebrate the commercial success of her latest project while navigating conversations surrounding her past collaborations.
