Tottenham’s Fixture Change Erodes Manchester United’s Advantage Ahead of Europa League Final

Manchester United’s potential advantage over Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the Europa League final has been taken away following a fixture change.
The final is scheduled for May 21, with United appearing on track to qualify after an impressive 3-0 victory over 10-man Athletic Bilbao in their semi-final first leg. Meanwhile, Ruben Amorim’s side is likely to face Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham, who secured a 3-1 win over Bodo/Glimt last Thursday.
United had been expected to benefit from a favorable fixture schedule before the final. They are set to play Chelsea on Friday, May 16, while Tottenham was originally scheduled to travel to Aston Villa two days later, providing Spurs with less time to recover ahead of the Europa League showdown.
However, following a request from Tottenham, the Premier League has moved their match against Aston Villa forward to Friday night as well. The game will now take place at 7:30 PM UK time, 45 minutes earlier than United’s match at Stamford Bridge, which kicks off at 8:15 PM.
An official statement from the Premier League confirmed the change: “We can now confirm that our Premier League fixture away to Aston Villa will take place on Friday 16 May, kicking off at 7:30 PM (UK). This match was originally scheduled for Sunday 18 May.”
