Former Beşiktaş and Villarreal striker Nihat Kahveci has stressed Lucas Torreira’s importance to Galatasaray, insisting the midfielder is just as valuable to the Turkish champions as Victor Osimhen.
Kahveci made the assessment after Galatasaray suffered a 3-1 Champions League defeat to Sporting Lisbon on Wednesday, a game Osimhen missed due to injury.
Speaking on the Kontraspor YouTube channel, he said:
“Lucas Torreira is at least as important as Osimhen at Galatasaray.
“He proved that again. Sign Torreira along with Osimhen, and treat them with the utmost care.”
Osimhen is currently recovering from a groin injury and was unavailable for the Sporting Lisbon clash.
Galatasaray will return to domestic action on Sunday when they face Kocaelispor in the Turkish Super Lig.
