President Bola Tinubu has officially inaugurated Professor Dakas C.J. Dakas (SAN) as Chairman of the Nigerian Law Reform Commission, alongside Dr. Uchenna Okolocha as Commissioner.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Council Chambers of the State House, Abuja, ahead of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, which commenced immediately after.
In July, the Senate confirmed both appointments, Dakas as Chairman and Okolocha as Commissioner representing the South-South, following the recommendations of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, chaired by Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire (Ondo Central).
The committee affirmed that the appointees met all statutory and professional requirements, possessed the requisite expertise and integrity, and had no pending petitions or adverse security reports.
The Nigerian Law Reform Commission is mandated to keep all federal laws under constant review, ensuring their systematic development and reform in line with evolving societal norms and legal standards.
