Tinubu Inaugurates Vocational Training Institute, CNG Buses, and 300-Bed Hospital in Kaduna

Projects align with youth empowerment, healthcare development, and economic transformation agenda of federal and Kaduna governments.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday commissioned a series of transformative projects in Kaduna State, spotlighting his administration’s focus on youth empowerment, healthcare access, and economic modernization.

Among the commissioned projects was the Institute of Vocational Training and Skills Development, established to equip young Nigerians with practical skills for employment and self-reliance. The initiative reflects Governor Uba Sani’s broader vision of inclusive development and human capital growth across the state.

At the same event held at Murtala Mohammed Square in Kaduna, President Tinubu also unveiled 100 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses, designed to modernize public transportation while reducing reliance on fossil fuels. The rollout is part of Kaduna’s green energy transition and public mobility reform efforts.

Another major highlight was the inauguration of a 300-bed Specialist Hospital, named after President Tinubu. The hospital represents a milestone in the state’s healthcare journey, one that began over a decade ago.

Former Vice President Namadi Sambo, who conceived the hospital project in 2009 during his tenure as Kaduna State Governor, expressed deep satisfaction at its eventual completion.

“This is the fulfillment of a vision we began 16 years ago,” Sambo said. “Back then, Kaduna had fewer than 3,000 hospital beds for over six million people. The loss of the 800-bed ABU Teaching Hospital to Zaria worsened our situation. This new facility will change the healthcare landscape for our people.”

Sambo emphasized that the new hospital would help curb health tourism and ease the burden on existing tertiary medical centers in the state.

Kaduna Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Balarabe praised Tinubu’s leadership, describing it as focused, resilient, and geared toward sustainable development. She lauded the president’s commitment to restoring citizens’ confidence in governance through meaningful projects.

“The vocational institute is part of a national strategy to generate jobs, diversify the economy, and uplift lives,” Balarabe said, while also commending Governor Sani’s inclusive approach to governance.

Also speaking at the event, Prof. Idris Bugaje, Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), described Kaduna as a rising hub for technical and vocational education in Nigeria. He noted that such training programs offer scalable solutions to youth unemployment and economic diversification.

Emir of Zazzau, Amb. Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli, representing the traditional rulers’ council, thanked President Tinubu for his ongoing support of development in the state. He also praised the improving security situation, especially in areas like Giwa, Igabi, and Southern Kaduna, attributing the progress to coordinated efforts between the federal and state governments.

“The projects we’ve witnessed today are not just physical structures—they are legacies that will serve generations to come,” the Emir remarked.

The event drew several dignitaries, including Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, and other key federal and state officials. The newly inaugurated projects are part of a long-term strategy to revamp Kaduna’s infrastructure, health systems, and job creation ecosystem.
