The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has dismissed claims by Kaduna Electric that transmission constraints were responsible for disruptions in power supply to Jos and its environs.
In a statement dated August 27, 2026, TCN described the claim contained in a statement issued by Kaduna Electric on August 26 as false and a misrepresentation of facts.
The transmission company said all 330kV transmission lines connected to Jos are currently in service and transmitting bulk electricity to the area.
TCN explained that the only recent incident occurred at about 3:30am on August 23, when the Jos-Lafia 330kV Line 2 circuit breaker was opened as part of routine operations for voltage control and grid stability.
According to the company, the line was successfully restored at 11:59am on August 24, 2026, adding that there had been no outage or disruption of bulk electricity transmission on any 330kV line supplying Jos since the restoration.
TCN urged Kaduna Electric and other stakeholders to verify information with the transmission company before issuing public statements, warning that inaccurate claims could misinform electricity consumers and create unnecessary anxiety.
It assured electricity customers in Jos and neighbouring communities of its commitment to maintaining efficient and reliable bulk power transmission across the country.
TCN also said it would continue to work with Distribution Companies to improve the stability and reliability of electricity supply nationwide.
