Suspected gunmen kidnap Ebonyi govt female official

Suspected gunmen have kidnapped Mrs. Blessing Adagba, the Coordinator of Ngbo Central Development Centre in Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

SP Joshua Ukandu, the Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Ebonyi Police Command, confirmed the incident on Friday in Abakaliki. Ukandu stated, “Yes, Adagba was abducted in the Okposhi Eheku community of Ohaukwu Local Government Area.”

The abduction took place in the early hours of Thursday when the gunmen reportedly stormed the area, overpowering the victim and taking her away. Eyewitnesses claim they heard gunshots before the assailants fled with her in a vehicle.

The police quickly responded to the incident, and Ukandu confirmed that the authorities have launched an investigation. “The Anti-Kidnapping Squad has been deployed to rescue the victim, and I believe they are working diligently to secure her safe return,” he said.

Local residents have expressed concern over the rising number of kidnappings in the region, urging authorities to take more decisive action to curb the menace.

In the wake of the abduction, community leaders have called for more security measures to ensure the safety of their people. Adagba’s family and colleagues have also appealed to the public to provide any information that could help in locating her.

Authorities are yet to confirm whether a ransom demand has been made, but they have reassured the public that all necessary resources are being deployed to ensure her safe release.
