A new security initiative has emerged in Ogun State following the launch of the Iru Ekun Security Network by Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.
The launch attracted a large gathering of supporters, with Igboho outlining plans for the outfit’s training, deployment and coordination with government authorities.
He emphasised discipline among members, warning against misconduct.
“You must have discipline. Do not engage in reckless behaviour or ruin things just because they have trained you and you have ID card,” Igboho said.
According to him, the Federal Government will determine the trainers, while the Ogun State Governor’s Office will decide where members are deployed.
He added that members would receive identification cards after completing their training.
“Federal Government will decide who will come and train us. The Governor’s Office tell us where they will place us.
“As they wrap up that training, every person will be issued an ID card at the local government level”, he explained.
Igboho also said the Ogun State Government had pledged its support and would determine monthly allowances for members.
“The Governor has also given us assurance. They have given us support here, and they will decide what monthly allowance to provide to us, to support us, because we have wives, and we have children”.
He said the broader plan was to establish a recognised security network across the South-West, with members operating legitimately and supporting efforts to maintain security and order.
