Sterling and Disasi Face Uncertain Chelsea Futures After Failed Moves

At least two Chelsea players from manager Enzo Maresca’s so-called “bomb squad” face uncertain futures at Stamford Bridge after failing to secure

At least two Chelsea players from manager Enzo Maresca’s so-called “bomb squad” face uncertain futures at Stamford Bridge after failing to secure exits before the close of the summer transfer window.

While the Blues managed to offload Nicolas Jackson to Bayern Munich and Ben Chilwell to Strasbourg on deadline day, moves for Raheem Sterling and Axel Disasi did not materialize, according to Metro UK.

Sterling had been placed in Maresca’s bomb squad last summer and spent the season on loan at Arsenal. After rejecting a move to Saudi Arabia during the latest window, the England international returned to Chelsea but was unable to seal a switch to Fulham or Crystal Palace. He is now expected to remain at the club until at least January, though he will continue training away from the first-team group.

Disasi, meanwhile, had a loan stint at Aston Villa last season but failed to convert that into a permanent deal. With no new transfer agreed, he too is set to be excluded from Maresca’s main squad setup for the first half of the campaign.

Separately, youngster Tyrique George also saw a potential transfer to Fulham collapse on deadline day. However, unlike Sterling and Disasi, George remains part of the first-team squad and even featured in Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Fulham last weekend.
