Simon To Play Under New Coach At Relegation Threatened Nantes

Super Eagles forward Moses Simon will play under a new coach at Nantes before the end of the season following the sacking of Antoine Kombouare.

Nantes confirmed Kombouare in a statement released on the club’s website on Tuesday.

Kombouare is replaced by fellow French man Pierre Aristouy who is saddled with the task of saving the club from relegation.

Nantes are in relegation zone with four games left to play in the French topflight.

The club are winless in their last six games, losing four and drawing two.

“Currently 17th in the league, FC Nantes and Antoine Kombouaré have decided by mutual agreement to end the contract that bound them,” the club stated.

“Pierre Aristouy takes charge of the first team with the aim of ensuring maintenance in Ligue 1. He will be assisted by Oswaldo Vizcarrondo.

“FC Nantes would particularly like to thank Antoine Kombouaré. A true leader of men, the technician managed to keep the club in Ligue 1 at the end of the 2020-2021 season.

“He was also one of the great architects of the magnificent season achieved last season with a 9th place in the league and a Coupe de France won. A trophy that will allow the Yellow House to return to the European scene this season.

Emotions that will remain forever in the memory of FC Nantes lovers.”
