Shakira, Burna Boy Set to Perform Official 2026 World Cup Song at Opening Ceremony

Colombian pop star Shakira and Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy are set to headline the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where they will perform the tournament’s official song, “Dai Dai.”

The performance will take place on June 11 at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, ahead of the opening match between Mexico and South Africa. The ceremony is part of FIFA’s multi-city launch format for the expanded tournament.

FIFA announced the lineup on Instagram, describing the event as a “star-studded” global celebration featuring top international acts. Alongside Shakira and Burna Boy, Colombian reggaeton artist J Balvin and South African star Tyla are also scheduled to perform.

The official song, “Dai Dai,” which translates to “let’s go” or “come on,” is expected to be a central highlight of the opening ceremony and a key anthem for the global tournament.

Mexico City will host one of three opening ceremonies across the 2026 World Cup’s host nations. In Canada, performances by Michael Bublé and Alanis Morissette will precede Canada’s clash with Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto on June 12.

In the United States, Katy Perry and Future are billed to perform before the USA takes on Paraguay at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.

Shakira’s return marks another major World Cup moment in her career, following her globally successful performances of “Waka Waka” and “La La La.”

She is also expected to co-headline a Super Bowl-style halftime show at the World Cup final on July 19, alongside Madonna and BTS, further highlighting the tournament’s entertainment-driven global rollout.
