Rivers Govt Seals Four Clinics, Arrests 12 Over Fake Doctors

The Rivers State Government has intensified its clampdown on quack medical practitioners, sealing four illegal clinics and arresting 12 suspected fake doctors operating across the state.

The operation, carried out by the State Ministry of Health in collaboration with security agencies, targeted unregistered facilities accused of endangering lives through unqualified medical practices and substandard treatments.

Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adaeze Oreh, said the enforcement drive followed weeks of surveillance after reports of rising cases of malpractice, wrongful diagnoses, and preventable deaths linked to unlicensed clinics.

“We will not tolerate quackery in our health sector. These arrests send a strong message that anyone endangering the lives of Rivers people under the guise of medical practice will face the full weight of the law,” she stated.

The suspects are currently under investigation and will be charged accordingly, while the sealed facilities will remain shut pending further review.

Oreh urged residents to verify the credentials of healthcare providers and patronize only licensed medical facilities to safeguard their health and safety.
