Rivers Angels Clinch 10th Federation Cup Title After Penalty Comeback Win

Rivers Angels successfully defended their President Federation Cup women’s title with a dramatic 4-2 victory on penalties over Nasarawa Amazons in the final held on Saturday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.
The reigning champions, known as the Jewel of Rivers, overcame a 2-0 halftime deficit to claim their 10th Federation Cup crown. Nasarawa Amazons took an early lead through Olusola Shobowale, who capitalized on poor defending to open the scoring in the 7th minute. Shobowale struck again 10 minutes later, doubling the advantage for Chris Danjuma’s side.
Rivers Angels launched a spirited comeback in the second half. Taiwo Ajibade pulled one back just before the hour mark, and two minutes later, Taiwo Afolabi equalized to level the match at 2-2.
After 90 minutes of intense action, the final went to penalties, where Rivers Angels held their nerve to convert four spot-kicks, while Nasarawa Amazons managed just two.
