Real Warri Pikin, Delta Stakeholders Reach Truce Over Effurun Comedy Show

Nigerian comedian and content creator Anita Asuoha, popularly known as Real Warri Pikin, has reached an agreement with stakeholders in Delta State following a dispute over the branding and location of her proposed comedy show in Effurun.

The resolution was announced in a joint statement issued on Thursday and signed by Real Warri Pikin, representatives of the Wado City Advocacy Group, Collins Eselemo, Chief Godfrey Ishegbe and a representative of the Delta State Government.

The disagreement arose after the comedy event was promoted as a Real Warri Pikin show in Warri, even though the proposed venue was in Effurun, within Uvwie Local Government Area.

The Wado City Advocacy Group had objected to the description, arguing that Effurun should be clearly identified as the location of the event.

The dispute subsequently became a public issue, prompting a reconciliation meeting involving the comedian and the stakeholders.

Following the meeting, the parties said they had addressed their concerns and agreed to work together to ensure the event goes ahead peacefully.

They also agreed to stop further public exchanges over the matter, including accusations or hostile communication on social media and other platforms.

The joint statement acknowledged that the dispute had attracted public attention and caused concern among residents, the comedian’s supporters and others following the development.

The parties consequently apologised to anyone who may have been inconvenienced, disappointed or affected by the manner in which the disagreement unfolded publicly.

They stressed that the resolution should not be interpreted as a victory for either side.

According to the statement, the priority is that the concerns raised have been addressed, communication has been restored and the parties are now committed to working together respectfully.

New date and venue to be announced

Despite the resolution, the organisers have yet to announce a new date or venue for the comedy show.

The parties said details of the new date, venue and complete address would be made public after the necessary arrangements had been finalised.

The development follows the earlier cancellation of the proposed September 20 comedy show at Monarchy Event Centre on the Effurun-Sapele Road.

The cancellation came amid objections to the event’s branding and its description as a Warri show despite the proposed venue being located in Effurun.

Real Warri Pikin had previously said the disagreement involved threats and linked the situation to wider ethnic tensions in the area.

With the latest reconciliation, the parties have now agreed to move beyond the dispute and focus on the successful hosting of the event.
