Real Warri Pikin addresses backlash over Timaya viral moment

Award-winning comedian Real Warri Pikin has addressed the backlash over a viral incident involving singer Timaya at the 2026 AFRIMMA Awards in Dallas, United States.
The comedian, who won the Best Stand-Up Comedian award, explained that the incident occurred during Timaya’s stage performance after he invited a woman from the audience to join him.
She said the woman initially hesitated but eventually went on stage after being assured she would be comfortable.
According to Real Warri Pikin, the situation took an unexpected turn when Timaya lifted her during the performance. Although the moment was treated as entertainment at the event, footage later triggered mixed reactions online.
Responding to the criticism in a video, the comedian urged Nigerians to be understanding and accepted responsibility for her actions.
“Make una take am easy, I beg. I’m sorry. I take full responsibility of my actions,” she said.
She also dismissed assumptions about her character and values, explaining that she had no intention of disrespecting her husband or acting inappropriately.
Real Warri Pikin acknowledged the concerns raised but appealed to the public not to judge her character based solely on the viral video.
