Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio has been cleared of charges linked to the alleged non-consensual sharing of a sexually explicit video.
The 23-year-old was acquitted on Thursday after the two women featured in the videos told the court they had forgiven Asencio and his former teammates, Ferran Ruiz, Juan Rodriguez and Andres Garcia, according to Marca.
Following the ruling, Asencio said on Instagram that he had endured “difficult moments during the whole process.”
He also expressed gratitude to “Real Madrid and all the people who stayed by his side and supported him.”
Despite being cleared, Asencio’s future at Real Madrid remains uncertain under manager Jose Mourinho.
Mourinho revealed on Thursday that the club had initiated a “disciplinary proceeding” against the defender following a DUI conviction.
Asencio is yet to feature for Real Madrid this season due to a muscle injury.
