Premier League returns as Arsenal, Manchester United face key tests

The Premier League resumes this weekend following a 19-day international break, with defending champions Arsenal among the clubs aiming to return to winning ways.

The 2026/27 campaign was halted after Matchweek 5 as FIFA’s revised calendar combined the September and October international windows into one extended break running from September 21 to October 6.

League action resumes on October 10, with Arsenal opening Matchweek 6 at home against unbeaten Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal head into the fixture looking to recover from a 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion in their final game before the break, while Leeds have enjoyed an unbeaten start to their first Premier League season since returning to the top flight under Daniel Farke.

Leeds are among five teams yet to suffer defeat this season and have matched a feat last achieved by the club during the 2001/02 campaign.

Saturday’s other fixtures include Aston Villa against Brentford, Chelsea versus Bournemouth, Ipswich Town against Fulham and Sunderland’s clash with Brighton.

Manchester United will host Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford in another standout fixture, with both teams seeking to revive their campaigns.

The weekend’s headline encounter comes on Sunday, when Liverpool welcome league leaders Manchester City to Anfield.
