‘Poor Vs Paid Poor’: I Go Save Weighs In On 2027 Elections

Popular Nigerian comedian Otaghware Onodjayeke, better known as I Go Save, has offered his take on Nigeria’s political climate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a post shared on his social media page, the comedian described the forthcoming election as a contest between the “poor” and the “paid poor”.
I Go Save’s comment focused on the role of financial inducement in shaping political choices, particularly among citizens facing economic hardship.
“2027 election is between the poor and the paid poor,” he wrote.
The comedian appeared to be drawing attention to voters who may accept financial benefits from political actors while continuing to face economic difficulties.
His remark has generated reactions online, with social media users offering different interpretations of his assessment of voter behaviour and the political process.
The 2027 general elections are already in preparation, with the Independent National Electoral Commission scheduling the presidential and National Assembly elections for January 16, 2027, followed by governorship and State House of Assembly elections on February 6, 2027.
Concerns about vote buying have also featured in discussions around the next election. Former INEC National Commissioner Festus Okoye recently warned that vote buying and insecurity could significantly affect the 2027 polls.
INEC has also announced preparations to clean up and revalidate the national voters’ register ahead of the election, as part of efforts to strengthen the electoral process.
I Go Save’s comments come as political activities and public discussions surrounding the 2027 elections continue to gather momentum.
