The #Take-It-Back protest in Port Harcourt took a dramatic turn when officers from the Rivers State Police Command fired tear gas at the protesters in an attempt to disperse them.
Organizers and supporters of the Take It Back Movement, along with Civil Society Organizations and the Niger Delta Congress, had gathered at Isaac Boro Park. However, they were met with resistance from the police, who instructed them to relocate to another venue.
Undeterred, the protesters continued their demonstration, singing solidarity songs as they marched through the park and onto the Aba Express Road.
When they reached the CFC junction, the armed anti-riot police once again confronted them, ordering them to leave the street.
The protesters, however, refused to comply. In response, the police fired tear gas canisters, causing the groups to scatter in search of safety.
