The Kaduna State Police Command has firmly denied reports circulating on social media alleging that between 150 to 200 people were kidnapped along the Abuja-Kaduna Highway.
In a statement issued in Kaduna, the command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, described the claims as “entirely fabricated and without basis in fact.” He stressed that no such incident had been recorded along the highway in the past two years.
According to Hassan, the area remains under tight surveillance, with regular patrols conducted by the police, military, and other security agencies to ensure the safety of travelers and residents alike.
“The report is false and designed to cause unnecessary panic,” Hassan said. He added that Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, has cautioned individuals and media outlets against spreading falsehoods capable of inciting fear and disrupting public order.
“Those found responsible for sharing fabricated information may face questioning, investigation, and prosecution,” he warned.
Hassan reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state. He urged the public to rely solely on verified and official sources for information concerning security matters.
He also noted that the state government, in partnership with security forces, remains proactive in maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of all residents.
