Former UEFA president Michel Platini has tipped Paris Saint-Germain forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to win this year’s Ballon d’Or.
The French football icon believes Kvaratskhelia’s achievements with PSG, particularly their Ligue 1 and Champions League triumphs, make him a strong contender for the prestigious individual award.
Platini’s choice comes despite the remarkable year enjoyed by fellow Frenchman Kylian Mbappe, who set a new record as the World Cup’s all-time leading scorer and also claimed the Pichichi award with Real Madrid.
However, according to The Tribuna, Platini revealed his preference for the PSG star.
“For the Ballon d’Or, I’d put a small bet on the Paris Saint-Germain player, Kvaratskhelia.
“He won the Champions League title with Paris Saint-Germain.”
