Pete Edochie Says Age and Experience Give Him a Fatherly Voice With Nigeria’s Leaders

Veteran Nollywood actor Pete Edochie says his age and experience have given him a fatherly role in society, including in his interactions with Nigeria’s political leaders.
Speaking in a recent interview with TV3, the actor said he believes his appeals receive attention from authorities because he is older than the president and the country’s 36 state governors.
Edochie, who said he would turn 80 in the next six months, illustrated his influence by recounting how he once appealed to the government to support an ailing colleague.
According to him, the government sent the colleague ₦500,000 the following week after he made the appeal during an interview at his home in Enugu.
“In the next six months, I will be turning 80. I am older than all the governors and the president, so when I talk to them, it is like a father talking to a son,” he said.
The actor’s remarks highlight the role he believes seniority and professional standing can play in enabling established figures in the entertainment industry to advocate for others.
