The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally issued certificates of expulsion to 11 former members, including prominent figures such as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, former Governor Ayo Fayose, former PDP National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and Umaru Bature. The development was confirmed on Tuesday by the party’s new national chairman, Tanimu Turaki, SAN, during a briefing with journalists.
Turaki explained that the certificates have been dispatched via courier to the affected individuals. “These certificates serve as official proof that they are no longer members of the PDP,” he said. “This ensures that, if they seek to join other political parties, there will be no allegations of dual membership, which is prohibited under Nigerian law.”
Displaying copies of the certificates, Turaki detailed that originals for all 11 individuals, including Kamarudeen Ajibade (SAN), Abdurahman Muhammad, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Austin Nwachukwu, Abraham Amah Nnanna, George Turna, and Chief Dan Orbih, have been sent through courier services.
He added that the action follows the decision of the PDP National Convention in Ibadan, the party’s highest decision-making body, which formally expelled the members.
Turaki concluded by reiterating that the certificates are part of the party’s compliance with legal and procedural requirements, ensuring transparency for all concerned and providing clarity to other political parties regarding the individuals’ membership status.
