Over one hundred houses have been destroyed in Zogirma village, located in Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State, following a heavy downpour that lasted several hours on Friday night.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, a resident of Bunza, Haruna Danmalam, said several villagers sustained varying degrees of injuries as a result of the rainstorm.
During a visit to the affected community, the Secretary of Bunza Local Government Area, Malam Muhammed Umar Mawo, expressed sympathy to the victims on behalf of the council chairman. He assured residents that the council would compile a comprehensive report on the incident and forward it to the state government for appropriate intervention.
In a related development, four villages in Arewa Local Government Area Tungar Chindo, Tungar Kure, Feske Malabawa, and Feske Rafi were also submerged by floodwaters. The disaster reportedly destroyed over sixty houses, killed numerous animals, and damaged properties worth hundreds of thousands of naira.
