Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has slipped to fifth place in the latest ranking of Africa’s most valuable footballers, according to Transfermarkt data. The Nigerian, who topped the continental list in 2023, fell to second in 2025 and then third before this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, with his current market value standing at €75 million.
Osimhen is now behind Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande, valued at €90 million, while Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi, Manchester City winger Antoine Semenyo and Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi are each valued at €80 million. Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo also has a €75 million valuation, placing him level with Osimhen. The Nigerian’s latest drop in the rankings comes despite an impressive beginning to the 2026/27 campaign with Turkish champions Galatasaray, where he has registered four goals and one assist in just two appearances.
The 27-year-old has also climbed to third on Galatasaray’s all-time list of foreign goalscorers and remains on the radar of several clubs as the transfer window approaches its close. Arsenal are currently considered a leading potential destination, while Saudi Pro League outfit Al Hilal continue to monitor his situation. Transfermarkt’s valuation system takes into account factors including a player’s age, performances and statistics, and ranks Osimhen 20th among the world’s most valuable forwards.
When the ranking is restricted to recognised centre-forwards, Osimhen is eighth globally. Manchester City and Norway striker Erling Haaland leads the list with a €220 million valuation, followed by Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe at €200 million and Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez at €120 million. Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak and Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez occupy fourth and fifth positions respectively, both valued at €85 million, while Hugo Ekitike and Joao Pedro are next at €80 million. Osimhen’s €75 million valuation leaves him eighth, but he remains the most valuable Nigerian player and the highest-valued footballer in the Turkish Super Lig.
The Galatasaray forward has further enhanced his reputation since joining the Turkish club from Napoli, scoring 63 goals in 76 appearances. He is expected to return to Super Lig action when Galatasaray host Goztepe on Saturday as he looks to maintain his prolific scoring form.
Osimhen also remains prominent in the history of Africa’s most expensive transfers. His move from Lille to Napoli in 2023 was valued at $91 million, while his permanent switch from Napoli to Galatasaray was reportedly worth $87 million. The two transfers place him twice among the ten most expensive African football transfers of all time.
