Ogun State Government Moves to Harmonize Taxes and Reduce Double Taxation

The Ogun State government is actively working to harmonize taxes and levies in an effort to reduce double taxation, which can adversely impact the revenue base of businesses.

This initiative was revealed by the Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela, during a strategic visit to several industries in the state.

Sofela explained that the purpose of his visit was to strengthen the existing relationship between Ogun State and its various stakeholders, fostering collaboration and the sharing of ideas on mutual interests.

He emphasized that the administration, led by Governor Dapo Abiodun, is dedicated to capacity building at all levels. To this end, technical schools in the state are being upgraded to ensure that companies do not face any skill gaps in meeting their technical needs.

Accompanied by senior management staff from the Ministry, Sofela highlighted improvements in the state’s land administration system, aimed at enabling investors to obtain title documents without delay, thereby facilitating their access to financing.

He also noted the creation of new industrial clusters designed to accommodate the increasing influx of investors and prepare for future growth.

Sofela made a strong appeal to companies across Ogun State’s three senatorial districts to prioritize the employment of qualified residents.

This initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance the relationship between businesses and their host communities.

“We are working to ensure the harmonization of taxes and levies to reduce the incidence of double taxation. The Governor is particularly interested in creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, considering the government’s significant investments in security and infrastructure,” Sofela stated.
