The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has issued a stern warning to the public regarding individuals and entities impersonating the national oil company and illegally soliciting funds from unsuspecting investors.
In a statement released on Monday, June 9, 2025, NNPC Ltd spokesman Olufemi Soneye clarified that these unauthorized individuals are demanding fees in exchange for meetings with the NNPC board of directors, executives, and management staff. Soneye unequivocally stated that “These actions are unauthorised and illegal.”
“The general public is advised to beware of individuals and companies falsely claiming to represent NNPC Limited. Their tactics include soliciting fees for meetings with the NNPC board of directors, executives, and management staff. These actions are unauthorised and illegal,” the statement read.
Soneye particularly urged foreign investors and international business entities to exercise extreme caution. “If approached, report the incident to the appropriate authorities immediately,” he advised.
He emphasized that all legitimate engagements with NNPC Ltd are conducted strictly through official channels or authorized business units.
“NNPC Limited remains committed to transparency, integrity, and the protection of our stakeholders in all interactions. Let’s work together to prevent scams. Stay alert and share this notice,” Soneye concluded, reinforcing the company’s commitment to ethical business practices and stakeholder protection.
