Nigerian Film Corporation Debunks Rumors of Ali Nuhu’s Death

The NFC says its Managing Director is alive and carrying out his duties, dismissing viral social media claims as false and malicious.

The Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC) has dismissed widespread social media rumors alleging that its Managing Director, Ali Nuhu, is dead.

The speculation began after a Facebook user shared a video suggesting that the veteran actor and filmmaker had passed away, while another post falsely claimed he died in a car accident.

In a statement released Monday evening, NFC’s Director of Public Affairs, Brian Etuk, described the reports as “false and malicious,” stressing that Nuhu remains active in his role.

“The attention of the Nigerian Film Corporation has been drawn to the purported passing of Dr. Ali Nuhu, its current Managing Director/Chief Executive, being orchestrated within the social media space. The Corporation wishes to unambiguously inform the general public that the reports, including videos laced with his pictures, are false in their entirety,” the statement read.

The Corporation emphasized that Nuhu, who was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on February 12, 2024, is “alive, well, and discharging his responsibilities as NFC’s Chief Executive.”

The NFC also warned that steps are being taken to identify and address those behind the spread of the misinformation.

“Appropriate measures have been initiated to arrest this unsatisfactory conduct and trend. NFC wishes to draw the attention of perpetrators, including their sponsors, to the dire consequences of their actions,” the statement added.

The Corporation, however, expressed appreciation for the genuine concern shown by the public and industry stakeholders following the viral rumors.
