Nigerian Army Launches DI&C Tech Workshop to Boost Transparency and Performance

As part of its ongoing transformation, the Nigerian Army has inaugurated the Directorate of Inspections and Compliance (DI&C) Project Inspection Workshop 2026 to strengthen transparency, performance, and accountability.

Participants include officers from formations and units around Abuja, senior officers, and technical experts in engineering, technology, and compliance, reflecting the Army’s commitment to modernising its operations.

The four-day workshop, held at the Army War College Nigeria (AWCN) in Asokoro, Abuja, themed “Leveraging Technology: Panacea for Enhanced Inspection and Compliance” aims to improve efficiency in project execution through technology-enabled inspection processes, according to Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations,.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, represented by the Chief of Logistics (Army), Major General Adekunle Adeyinka, described the initiative as crucial to the Army’s transformation. He noted that traditional manual inspections are no longer sufficient and stressed the need for integrated, technology-driven solutions.

Lieutenant General Shaibu emphasised that inspections are not meant to assign blame but to enhance performance, standardise procedures, and support institutional learning. He highlighted that effective inspections ensure policies and plans are translated into measurable outcomes while improving operational readiness and resource utilisation.

On his part, Major General Auwalu Mahmuda, Director of DI&C, described the workshop as a strategic response to contemporary challenges, aligning inspection and compliance functions with the COAS’s transformation agenda.
