Nigeria’s Junior Female Yellow Greens have secured a second successive appearance at the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup after defeating Zimbabwe by four runs in Tanzania on Saturday.
Having won the toss and elected to bat, Nigeria posted 98 for six in their allotted 20 overs.
Zimbabwe mounted a challenge in the chase but were bowled out for 94 with one ball remaining, as Nigeria held on for a narrow victory.
The win sees Nigeria qualify alongside South Africa as Africa’s representatives for the 2027 tournament, which will be jointly staged by Nepal and Bangladesh.
Nigeria first reached the competition in 2025 after overcoming Zimbabwe in the African qualifiers, before finishing sixth at the tournament in Malaysia.
