NFF Suspends Referee Adebayo Qudus Over Controversial NNL Match Decisions

The Referee Development Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has suspended referee Adebayo Qudus from officiating in the Nigeria National League (NNL).

The suspension was announced in an official statement signed by Ameenu Mohammed, a member of the committee.

Qudus served as the centre referee during the recent NNL fixture between Gateway United and Sporting Lagos, where he was accused of awarding an “unjustified penalty” and making several decisions that allegedly violated the Laws of the Game. The officiating reportedly led to significant disruption and raised serious concerns about the integrity of the match.

“Your actions and performances did not only negatively affect the integrity of refereeing but equally brought the game to disrepute,” the statement read.

The NFF stated that the suspension is part of broader efforts to uphold the credibility of Nigerian football and to send a strong message against poor and unprofessional officiating.
