The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has imposed a six-month flight ban on legendary Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Omogbolahan, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, following allegations of a serious breach of airport security protocols.
Effective immediately, the sanction prohibits the music icon from flying through any airport within Nigeria until the ban is lifted.
According to a preliminary report by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the incident occurred when K1 allegedly attempted to board a ValueJet flight carrying a flask containing a liquid suspected to be alcohol.
The report claims the contents of the flask accidentally spilled on both airport security personnel and the aircraft’s pilot, sparking a confrontation and ultimately leading to the singer being denied boarding.
FAAN’s report, which formed the basis of the NCAA’s decision, accused the singer of misconduct and non-compliance with airport safety regulations.
However, in a swift response, K1 has strongly refuted the claims. In a statement issued on Wednesday, he clarified that the flask in question contained only plain water, not alcohol, as alleged by airport authorities.
He described the reports as “misleading” and vowed to cooperate fully with any further investigations.
The matter is now under further review by the relevant aviation and security agencies, who are expected to release more detailed findings in the coming days.
