Multichoice Announces Price Increase on DSTV and GOtv Packages Starting May 1, 2024

Multichoice, the leading satellite television service provider in Sub-Saharan Africa, has announced a forthcoming increase in subscription prices for its DSTV and GOtv packages.

The price adjustment, which will take effect from May 1, 2024, was revealed in a statement titled ‘Price Adjustment on DStv and GOtv Packages’, signed by Chief Executive Officer John Ugbe.

The statement cited the rising cost of business operations as the primary reason for the price hike. Despite understanding the potential impact on customers, Multichoice emphasized that the decision was necessary due to the increasing operational costs.

New Pricing Details:

The Premium package on DSTV, previously priced at N29,500, will see an increase to N37,000.

The Compact Plus package, which currently costs N19,800, will be adjusted to N25,000.

In the statement addressed to customers on Wednesday, Multichoice acknowledged the challenges that this price adjustment may pose to its valued customers.

However, the company reiterated its commitment to delivering quality content and services, which necessitates the adjustment in subscription fees.

“We understand the impact this change may have on you – our valued customer, but the rise in the cost of business operations has led us to make this difficult decision,” the statement read.

The announcement has elicited mixed reactions from subscribers, with some expressing understanding of the operational challenges faced by Multichoice, while others voiced concerns about the affordability of the new prices.
