Moses Simon Hints at Nantes Exit After Landmark Season

Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has stirred speculation about his future at FC Nantes after sharing a heartfelt message on social media, hinting at a possible departure following five memorable years with the French club.
The 29-year-old, who just concluded an outstanding season with Les Canaris, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his gratitude and reflect on what he described as a deeply meaningful campaign in his career.
“This season comes to an end, and it will forever remain etched in my heart,” Simon wrote.
“It has been particularly special for me, as I had the honour of reaching 201 appearances for this legendary club that I hold so dearly. All of this has been possible through God and you, @FCNantes.”
Simon’s emotional message comes amid growing rumours of a summer transfer. Premier League club Everton are reportedly leading the chase for the Nigerian international, with scouts having monitored him as early as April, according to Africafoot.
The winger is said to be open to a new challenge and has reportedly instructed his representatives to explore a move to England. Although FC Nantes are not expected to stand in his way, they have set a price tag of at least €15 million for the former Levante player, who is currently valued at €12 million by Transfermarkt.
Despite Nantes finishing a lowly 13th in Ligue 1 — just three points clear of relegation — Simon was a standout performer. He played in 32 league matches, scoring eight goals and providing ten assists. He also ended the season as Ligue 1’s most successful dribbler, completing 65 take-ons, five more than his nearest competitor, Gaetan Perrin of Auxerre.
Simon’s milestone 200th and 201st appearances came in the closing weeks of the season — a personal achievement he clearly holds dear.
His contributions were crucial during a difficult campaign for Nantes, who managed just eight wins in 34 matches. They drew 12 and lost 14, scoring 39 goals and conceding 52. Simon’s performances were a rare bright spot in an otherwise turbulent season.
