Minister, EFCC Chair Inspect 753-Unit Housing Estate Recovered from Emefiele

In a bold stride for transparency and anti-corruption, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, and EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, have jointly inspected a confiscated 753-unit housing estate in Abuja, formerly owned by ex-CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele.

Recovered by the EFCC and officially handed over to the Ministry on presidential directive, the sprawling estate—located at Plot 109, Cadastral Zone CO9, Lokogoma District—sits on 150,000 square metres and has now been permanently forfeited to the federal government following a court ruling.

During the visit, Minister Dangiwa announced immediate technical integrity assessments, after which the estate will be completed and made available for purchase through the Renewed Hope Housing Portal.

“This recovery stands as one of the most significant achievements in our anti-corruption journey. These homes will soon serve Nigerians, not the corrupt few,” Dangiwa affirmed.

EFCC Chairman Olukoyede stressed the importance of public trust and productive use of recovered assets.

“This isn’t just a televised seizure—this is real, and it’s being returned to the people,” he said.

The estate will be integrated into the National Social Housing Programme, aligning with President Tinubu’s vision for affordable housing and good governance.

Earlier, a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Apo dismissed Emefiele’s bid to reclaim the property, ruling that proper notice had been served and affirming that only parties with legitimate interest could challenge the forfeiture.

The EFCC and Housing Ministry say the development sends a clear message: corruption has consequences—and public assets belong to the people.
