Mercy Johnson-Okojie Accepts Edo Special Adviser Role, Pledges People-Focused Engagement

Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie has expressed gratitude following her appointment as Special Adviser on Public Engagement and Advocacy by Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo.

In a statement shared on Instagram, Johnson-Okojie described the appointment as more than a political role, calling it an opportunity to connect with citizens and promote meaningful dialogue.

“I am deeply honoured and sincerely grateful… for the trust and confidence reposed in me,” she wrote.

The actress said she would approach the responsibility with humility and dedication, aligning her efforts with the governor’s SHINE Agenda, which focuses on responsive governance and sustainable development.

According to her, the position centres on amplifying the voices of Edo residents and encouraging their active participation in governance.

“This appointment is not just a call to serve; it is a call to connect, to listen, and to advocate with purpose,” she stated.

Johnson-Okojie pledged to work toward strengthening public trust and deepening civic engagement across the state. She emphasised that the role is fundamentally about the people of Edo State and ensuring their concerns are heard.
