Liverpool are making significant strides in their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong, according to renowned football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
In a statement posted on X this Tuesday, Romano confirmed that the Premier League club has taken substantial steps toward acquiring the Dutch international. These steps include initiating formal discussions with Bayer Leverkusen about the specifics of Frimpong’s €35 million release clause.
“Liverpool are advancing in talks to sign Jeremie Frimpong after contacts reported last week,” Romano stated. “Understand #LFC approached Bayer Leverkusen to discuss €35m release clause structure.”
Romano also reported that negotiations are ongoing with Frimpong’s representatives, with the 23-year-old showing a strong desire to make the move to Anfield.
“Talks also underway on player side with Frimpong keen on joining Liverpool,” he added.
Frimpong was a pivotal figure in Bayer Leverkusen’s title-winning Bundesliga campaign and has attracted interest from several elite European clubs.
